| Let me tell you a story. In order to achieve liberation, Nigamananda had been practicing severe austerities in Benares for quite a few months. |
| Belief comes spontaneously. Belief comes by effort. In the spiritual life, a sincere, advanced and surrendered seeker can and will have spontaneous belief. |
Desire |
| Desire is temptation. When temptation is nourished, true happiness becomes starved. Aspiration is the soul's awakening. The soul's awakening is the birth of supernal delight. |
| A disciplined life can come from only one thing, and that is aspiration, the inner cry. When we cry for outer things, sometimes we get them, sometimes we do not. |
| It is easier to disbelieve than to believe because disbelief is an act of descent, whereas belief is an act of ascent. Descending is easier than ascending. |
| Love your family much. This is your great duty. Love mankind more. This is your greater duty. Love God most. This is your greatest duty, the duty supreme. |
| The ego is that very thing which limits us in every sphere of life. We are God's children; we are one with God. |
Faith |
| First of all, faith is not credulity or blind belief. It does not mean that you must constantly believe in the impossible. No, that is not faith. Faith is a spontaneous feeling. |
Fear |
Conquering the fear of death depends on how much love you have for God and how sincerely you need Him. If you need someone, immediately you establish a kind of inner access to that person. |
Love |
| No, my young friend, human love and divine love are two completely different things. If I give you fifteen cents and you give me a piece of candy, that is called human love. |
| Patience is a divine virtue. Unfortunately, not only are we badly wanting in this divine virtue, but also we neglect it most foolishly. |
| My human pride feels that I can do everything. My divine pride, the pride that has surrendered itself to the Will of God, knows that I can do everything only when I am inspired, guided and helped by the Supreme. |
| Purity in the physical. You should always try to invoke Light in the unaspiring body. The lower physical and the emotional vital below the navel have to be purified totally. |
| From the strict spiritual point of view, the so-called earthly renunciation is not necessary for an aspirant. If renunciation means leaving aside one's family... |
| First things first. To love others, to serve others, try to love and serve God first. Then automatically you will be in a position to love and serve all human beings, your brothers and sisters. |
| Once a seeker named Bijoykrishna went to visit the spiritual Master Ramdas Kathiya Baba while he was holding a meeting. The disciples of Ramdas Kathiya Baba were asking their Master questions... |
Sin |
| To me, sin is a kind of imperfection or ignorance. It is not necessarily something very bad, ugly or untouchable. In the process of evolution we are aiming at perfection... |
Suffering |
| Why do we experience suffering? In this world, we are always consciously or unconsciously making mistakes. When we consciously make mistakes, we are quite aware of it. |
Thoughts |
| The thoughts that we have to control are the thoughts that are not productive, the thoughts that are damaging, the thoughts that are destructive, the thoughts that are silly, the thoughts that are negative. |
Worry |
| No, we should not worry. We should have implicit faith in God, in our Inner Pilot or in our spiritual Master. We have to feel that not only does God know what is best for us... |
